Annaprasana Pooja is performed when the child going to have solid food for the first time in its life which is a big transition from liquid food.
This is the pooja which is performed to show gratitude to the Lord for showering the parents with a child that is healthy and ready to eat solid food.
This ceremony is usually performed on the 6th or 7th month on a date which is compatible with the janma nakshatra of the child on a good and an auspicious thithi and yoga.
Annaprasana ceremony ensures that performing this pooja helps the child have good digestion and which will in turn help the child to grow healthy and strong.
Anything unhealthy or any substance that will cause illness to the child will be cleansed once this pooja is performed.
